Our programs help build creativity, coordination, and confidence while connecting to curriculum areas such as language, social studies, SEL, and the arts.
Programs are available as one-time workshops or multi-visit series for primary, junior, intermediate, and senior grades—offered in person or virtually.

Bring energy and creativity into your classroom with our multi-visit dance and drama programs designed to keep students actively involved and inspired. Each program can be customized through our booking form to align with your classroom goals and includes pre- and post-workshop activities to extend learning beyond each visit.
For schools looking for flexibility, we also offer one-time workshops that provide meaningful, hands-on experiences for every student.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DANCE PROGRAMS
The following elementary school dance programs work best as multi-visit bookings. Once you book your dance program, you will receive a form that allows you to choose the specific program content you’d like us to cover with your students. You will receive both pre and post-workshop activities to enrich your Travelling Stage dance experience along with extension activities. If multi-visit programs are not possible for your students, modified one-time visits are available.
BALLROOM DANCE FLOOR SERIES
This workshop series turns your school gym into a world class ballroom, with partner dances that are enjoyed around the world. Program content includes: Cha Cha, Jive, Mambo, Paso Doble, Quickstep and Waltz. Suitable for primary, junior, intermediate and senior grades.
CANADIAN DANCE SERIES
This series celebrates CANADA! Program content includes: Calgary Stampede Country Line Dancing, East Coast Jig, La Danse Traditionnel a la Cabane a Sucre, Precision Dance inspired by the Canadian Mounties, Canadian Urban Dance, Hockey Night in Canada and Contemporary Dance Inspired by the Group of Seven. Suitable for primary, junior, intermediate and senior grades.
DANCE AND LITERACY SERIES
This series explores dance and movement through literacy. Program content includes: poetic movement, story telling through contemporary dance and folk dance based on tales. Suitable for primary, junior, intermediate and senior grades.
DANCE and THE ENVIRONMENT
This series uses the elements of dance to create choreographed dance routines that are centred on specific environmental topics such as climate change, deforestation, pollution, urbanization and renewable energy. The program focuses on how movement and music can be used to convey a powerful message about the environment and sustainability. Suitable for junior, intermediate and senior grades.
DECADES OF DANCE SERIES
This series explores dance styles from the 1920s to modern day. Program content includes: Waltz (1900-1910s), Ragtime Dance (1920s), Charleston (1930s), Swing Dance (1940s), Dance Crazes of the 1950s & 1960s, Disco (1970s), Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” (1980s), Retro (1980s), Old School Hip Hop (1990s), Flash Mob (2000-2010), Pop Music & Dance (2011-2015), Dance Trends (2016-2021) and Current Dance Styles (2022-2026). Suitable for primary, junior, intermediate and senior grades.
ELEMENTS OF DANCE AND THE CREATIVE PROCESS SERIES
This series explores the concepts and vocabulary that help students develop movement skills and understand dance as a creative process. Program content includes: body, action, space, time, energy and creating original choreography. Suitable for primary, junior, intermediate and senior grades.
EXPLORING MINDFULNESS THROUGH THE ARTS
This series invites participants to consider the arts as a vehicle for emotional well-being. Each session will explore the intersection of mindfulness and artistic expression in an effort to support self-regulation, reduce stress, and create calm. Art forms will include: visual arts, dance, drama, literary arts (creative writing) and vocal music. Suitable for primary, junior, intermediate and senior grades.
FDK DANCE PROGRAM
This program, designed specifically for Junior and Senior Kindergarten students, gives children an opportunity to explore space and time while expressing themselves through creative movement. Participants will increase motor skills, expand movement vocabulary and having fun all while getting their Daily Physical Activity!
HISTORICAL DANCE SERIES
This series takes students way back in time to learn and experience early dance styles and their history. Program content includes: Renaissance Dance, English Country Dance, Baroque Dance and Victorian Dance Styles. Suitable for junior, intermediate and senior grades.
Integrated Series: Exploring Science Through Movement
This series integrates dance and movement curriculum with scientific concepts to create an engaging and interdisciplinary learning experience. Students will explore various scientific topics through creative movement, enhancing their understanding and retention of science curriculum while developing physical coordination and expression through dance. Content will include: states of matter, animal habitats, the water cycle, how weather affects living things and an exploration of severe weather. Suitable for primary and junior grades. . INTERNATIONAL DANCE SERIES
This series celebrates culture and diversity through dance. Program content includes: Afro-Jazz, Bandari (Iran), Bollywood (India), Caribbean, El Jarabe Tapatio (Mexico), English Country Dance, Flamenco (Spain), Hip Hop (North America), Highland (Scotland), Hopak (Ukraine), Hungarian Folk Dance, Irish Jig (Ireland), Polka (Central Europe), Salsa (Cuba), Samba (Brazil), Tango (Argentina), Tarantella (Italy), Waltz (Austria) and West African Dance. Suitable for primary, junior, intermediate and senior grades.
MUSICAL THEATRE SERIES
Students will experience all aspects of dance, vocal and stage acting as they work on a pre-selected production number from the Musical Theatre repertoire. Suitable for primary, junior, intermediate and senior grades.

Multi-Visit Programs
DEVISED THEATRE
Participants will work with an arts educator to build and create their own show through discussion, brainstorming, theatre games, improv, creative writing, music, movement and more. At the end of the program, participants will have a final piece to present. This is a multi-visit program suitable for junior, intermediate and senior grades.
FRACTURED FAIRY TALES
This program reimagines classic fairy tales by adding humorous and modern twists. Each sessions presents a well-known fairy tale but with unexpected changes in the plot, characters, and setting. The program aims to encourage creativity, diversity and critical thinking through unique storytelling.
IMPROV AND SKETCH COMEDY
Students will learn how to structure, write and perform their own sketch alongside an experienced comedy teacher. This is a multi-visit program suitable for junior, intermediate and senior grades.
MONOLOGUE CAFE
This workshop immerses students into the world of monologues and helps them to make bold character choices, find specificity and shake off the nerves of performing solo! Workshop suitable for junior, intermediate and senior grades.
THE DRAMA EDUCATION SERIES
This multi-visit comprehensive drama enrichment program includes instruction in Theatre Basics, Exploring Character & Physicality, Exploring Setting, Time and Space through Scene Work , Musical Theatre, How to Break Down & Perform a Monologue, Improvisation and Sketch Comedy. Program suitable for junior, intermediate and senior grades.
THE SCREENWRITING SERIES
This multi-visit comprehensive drama enrichment program includes instruction in generating and brainstorming ideas, storyboarding, building a script, filming, editing and showcasing a final product. Students will work alongside a professional writer/director/industry expert to create their very own short film. Your visiting artist will guide students to create from idea to final product over the course of the program. Students will use whatever technology is available to them (phone, laptop, etc) to do this. This program is meant to support students to find their own unique voice and tell their own story. Suitable for junior, intermediate and senior grades.
ONE TIME VISITS
ACTING 101
This workshop helps students explore how to use their voice, body and emotion to bring a character to life. By the end of this workshop, students will have basic tools to help them lift a character off the page and put it on the stage. Workshop suitable for junior, intermediate and senior grades.
AESOP’S FABLES
Using drama and movement, students will transform themselves into animals as they explore the moral aspects of the world’s most famous fables. Workshop suitable for primary and junior grades.
CREATING BIG CHARACTERS
Students will be encouraged to make unique and bold choices as they step into someone else’s shoes and participate in original character creation. Workshop suitable for junior and intermediate grades.
IMPROV AND THEATRE SPORTS
This fun, active and spontaneous workshop utilizes improvisation exercises and theatre games to help students sharpen their ability to think quickly and work as a team. Students will gain confidence, take risks and tap into creative humour. Workshop suitable for junior, intermediate and senior grades.
FOLK TALES FROM AROUND THE WORLD
Students will bridge the gap between cultures by exploring and performing folk tales from around the world. Workshop suitable for primary and junior grades.
FROM PAGE TO STAGE
Using popular children’s literature, students will explore character, emotion and performance. Under the direction of your visiting arts educator, students will work together to perform one of their most beloved stories. Workshop suitable for primary grades.
LET’S MAKE BELIEVE: DRAMA AND IMAGINATION
Climbing mountains, swimming in the sea and fending off dragons are just a few of the things students will do in this workshop. Aiming to unlock imaginations, this workshop is full of valuable drama games, exercises and role play activities. Workshop suitable for primary and junior grades.
ONCE UPON A TIME: BRINGING FAIRYTALES TO LIFE
Using classic fairy tales, students explore characterization, emotion and performance. Each workshop shows students how to step into a fairy tale and bring it to life. Workshop suitable for primary grades.
PUTTING YOUR BEST FOOT FORWARD
In this fun and empowering workshop, students will increase their self-confidence through drama. We’ll tackle the toughest parts of speaking in front of others and explore the importance of body language. Teachers have reported a significant improvement in their students’ public speaking skills after taking part in this workshop. Workshop suitable for junior, intermediate and senior grades.
STEP INTO STORIES (FDK)
Gather around as a professional storyteller shares a well loved tale with your students. Children will have an opportunity to bring the story to life through dramatic exploration and activities after. Suitable for FDK.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRODUCTION PROGRAMS
The Travelling Stage is best known for our final presentations and productions in schools and we are able to offer this option to you at a reasonable cost.
School PRODUCTION PROGRAM
There are two options to our School Production Program:
A. We can mount a licensed production from top to bottom including handling casting and tickets sales for your school along with everything in between. You can choose from shows like LION KING, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST or THE WIZARD OF OZ to name a few.
B. We can work toward a final presentation for parents using the material we cover during our class time at your school. (Please note that this is a very successful and affordable option that does not involved licensing costs).
Our School Production Program includes consultation and customization of your final presentation based on your school's specific needs, an organized file folder containing all music for classroom teacher distribution, facilitation of a dress rehearsal, an MC script, feedback on costuming, slides for use as presentation backdrops, a The Travelling Stage team member to assist with coordinating your final presentation, tech consultation, and a The Travelling Stage teaching artist in attendance at your final presentation to guide students. Please note that we do not provide the audio or tech equipment for your final presentation, but we are happy to assist in coordinating your rental.

Together, we’re creating new, custom arts education resources—free to download—for teachers across the country. These materials pair perfectly with Travelling Stage programs, but they’re also a great fit for educators who haven’t yet experienced a session with us.
Designed for students in Preschool to Grade 6, the resources include worksheets and activities aligned with the Provincial Arts Curriculum, supporting dance, drama, and music learning in classrooms nationwide.
All resources will be available free of charge for schools to access through Twinkl Canada.
