SECONDARY SCHOOL DANCE AND DRAMA PROGRAMS
The following secondary school dance and drama programs work best as multi-visit bookings. Once you book your program, you will receive a form that allows you to choose the specific content you’d like us to cover with your students. You will receive both pre and post-workshop activities to enrich your The Travelling Stage experience as well as extension activities. If multi-visit programs are not possible for your students, modified one-time visits are available.
Sketch Comedy
Students will learn how to structure, write and perform their own sketch alongside an experienced comedy teacher.
Musical Theatre Performance Program
Students will experience all aspects of dance, vocal and stage acting as they work on a pre-selected production number from the Musical Theatre repertoire.
Elements of Dance and the Creative Process
This workshop series explores body, action, space, time, energy and creating original dance sequences.
Studio Dance Styles
We are able to offer you beginner through advanced instruction in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, hip hop and urban dance styles, Latin, Irish, West African, Highland, Bollywood, Swing and Flamenco led by teaching artists who personally identify with the style.
Behind the Scenes – Master Classes
This workshop series gives students an opportunity to experience what goes into the making of a theatre or film production behind the scenes. Sessions include playwriting, stage management, choreography, film direction, theatre direction, production, set design, costume design, dramaturgy, arts administration, makeup design and casting.
Collective Creation Program
Collective Creation, also known as Devised Theatre, is a technique wherein the students create the work using their own voices. Based on suggestions and brainstorms from the students, our artist will help them to create a full piece of theatre.
Artist’s Specialty
Many of our teaching artists specialize in a specific area of the arts and this program brings you unique offerings, such as commedia dell'arte, mime, verbatim theatre, forum theatre, contact improvisation and many other styles and topics. If you are interested in this program, we will send you a current list of options based on your desired time frame and artist availability.
The Screenwriting Series
This multi-visit comprehensive drama enrichment program includes instruction in generating and brainstorming ideas, storyboarding, building a script, filming, editing and showcasing a final product. Students will work alongside a professional writer/director/industry expert to create their very own short film. Your visiting artist will guide students to create from idea to final product over the course of the program. Students will use whatever technology is available to them (phone, laptop, etc) to do this. This program is meant to support students to find their own unique voice and tell their own story.
