DANCE AND DRAMA AS A VEHICLE FOR WELLNESS (P/J AND J/I)

Everyone has a story. The arts have been proven to be a language through which children, youth and even adults can express themselves in multimodal ways. Why does this matter? Creative expression is an outlet for healing and it builds capacity for joy. Through the arts, we can share our identities, our community, our ideas, our hopes, our fears and our culture. We can imagine the future and move to construct it through collaborative and creative freedom. The use of multimodal expression in the classroom supports a culturally responsive pedagogy that moves away from print as the priority for expression that is so dominantly found in Western culture. Utilizing the arts will support our learners to express themselves in ways that play to their strengths. Join us for a workshop that will explore ways you can use dance and drama curricula to create a calm and compassionate classroom filled with students who are striving to be the healthiest versions of themselves.
