Effective September 2016, The Travelling Stage will be working in partnership with Mirvish Productions to bring you a variety of workshops inspired by MATILDA THE MUSICAL. Our team of professional Artist Educators will challenge students to explore key elements of the production in a fun and creative 60 or 75 minute workshop that supports classroom curriculum.
Workshops can be tailored to meet the needs of students from all grade levels, arranged as a pre-show activity at the theatre or at your school, and led by English and French-speaking Artist Educators.
Operation Empathy: Creating a Class Manifesto
Participants will explore the theme of anti-bullying as it relates to Matilda and work together to create a class manifesto through dramatic devices, choral speaking and movement. Suggested for grades 4 – 12.
Dramatic Exploration & Creative Movement
Participants will explore the creative process of creating scenes through drama and movement using the playful language from Matilda. Suggested for grades 1 – 8.
Choreography Experience – Dancing with Books & Desks
Students will learn a complete piece of choreography inspired by Matilda in their own classroom using their desks and a book to help them. All movement will be the original choreography of the visiting Travelling Stage Artist Educator. Suggested for grades 1 – 8.
Improvisation & Character Exploration
Led by a professional Artist Educator, participants will learn the basics of improvisation and then be led through a series of games and exercises to explore the characters of Matilda. Suggested for grades 4 – 8.
